Ever since I started skateboarding in the early 90′s I have been a big fan of all kind of t-shirts, collected a few & worn out many. They symbolize happenings. They are like postcards you bring to keep up the spirit of certain times, are symbols for what you stand for. This upcoming documentary seems to put all the different aspects of the cult in a great frame, showing the diversity (of cultures) it is made of. More info on the Canal+ page.

Another project coming from the guys that brought you “Influencers“, The Pursuit of (Cool). A great perspective on what makes a personality, how it has changed over time and where it could head. I just love the visuals and sound. But most important of all, the message: “Life is about the stories you can tell.” Remember that.

Opening Ceremony is one of that brands that have an incredible potential and base. Their design, clothing and collaboration partners just all transport this special and unique style. Still, it is all focused around the products. With their new OCTV they go beyond the product, entering and expanding into a real life section that transports the brand really well without loosing the very special brand identity. They just got themselves another reason to talk and I love it. (And not just because I’m hungry ;-))

We will spend our weekend in beautiful Stockholm. As some of you might remember, we lived there for a year. In winter we did hide in Hamburg a few times to escape the hard winter. This time it will be the exact opposite and we will join the great summer in Sweden.

While enjoying the sun it’s not that hard to think about those beautiful snow days in Stockholm. Not far away from our second place in Stockholm on Östermalm was Gärdet, the green heart of Stockholm. The music from Spike Lee’s movie “Where the Wild Things are” just fits perfectly. I reminisce like Pete Rock & CL Smooth.

Today we want to post the video that was shot during the blogger meeting in Hamburg. It was on our first week back and nice to get together and know eachother a bit better. Most of them we just know from online. I love the light and perspectives in this video. I still can feel the warm wind and still remember the great atmosphere. We need to do it again this summer!

There are a lot of genres out there at the moment. Toro Y Moi would be put in the category Chillwave. For those interested in the term and what’s behind, I suggest you take a look at the chillwave wikipedia entry. I prefer to look at music a bit more simplistic, either I feel it or don’t. I just love the soundscapes and visual approach. Big up! And by the way… If you’re in Hamburg and like what you just heard, be sure you don’t miss his set tonight at Grüner Jäger.

By now most of y’all have probably heard of Tyler the Creator, member of the Wolf-Gang. Nowadays most of the rap stuff is just lame and without a soul and voice, just a copy of some weird image. I’m so in love with well made tutorials. Especially when it comes to turban and scarf tutorials. They are easy to follow and pimp your outfit really easily.
Two weeks ago I was invited see to the first H&M Home store in Frankfurt. At the opening event, Head of Design for H&M Home Evelina Kravaev Söderberg showed me the keypieces for SS 2011. Life in a Day, a project by film director Ridley Scott. It must have been almost a year ago when he in cooperation with Youtube announced the project. Users from allover the world were asked to document their thoughts, habits, emotions, … during 24 hours. The “best” would be edited in a user generated documentary, produced and directed by Ridley Scott. The trailer looks really promising and should give an interesting perspective on life in general. Ultra local from a global perspective.

I just stumbled upon this video a few days ago and I am still stoked by the emotionality in it. With “Pass the Bucket“, Vans delivers a whole new perspective on the streetwear, skateboarding & lifestyle brand that it is. Instead of just focusing on the usual “hey, we are the coolest brand out there with the best riders”, this series gives the user a deeper meaning and insight of/in the characters of worship. Things can turn out different. Keep the faith, stand strong and keep in mind what’s the most important thing in life. Friends & family.

For a long long time now I’ve been a huge fan of the works of “Phunk Studio” an art and design collective from Singapore. They work with brands like Nike, Nokia, MTV, Daimler Chrysler, Comme des Garcon, Levis, Tiger Beer and Salem, Habitat,….. and they are one of the most well known visual artists in asia. Their work is so stunning, inspiring and colorful. Whenever I see such nice arts and installations, I ask myself, why isn’t that possible to have nice artist installations and art in public spaces in Germany? You should really visit their website and add them on Facebook. I can’t find enough words for their fantastic work.

At the iPpad magazine presentation I met Alexa Schulze who is supporting “Konbini” a french online TV platform from Paris. I’m not so into french things so I was wondering what “Konbini” is. I started to watch some videos and found my self laughing really hard. ;) The interviews are all really funny, you need to see yourself…. The productions are on a high level and the themes are great. You can find stuff from fashion over design, music to street culture. It’s bit sad that I can’t embed the video here on wordpress. You will need to click! Auf auf, es lohnt sich. Und ein wenig Kultur schadet ja nicht ;)

I’m speechless. Lykke Li’s new video. Nice sound and a great video at the right time. It counldn’t be better. She is always having this sense for doing things right.
Since we moved a few times I had to sell a lot of my stuff. It was really sad, because some of the stuff I really liked. Whenever I see a nice closet like this one of Doub Hanshaw, the creative director for “Freepeople” I’m kind of jealous. But in a good way. It’s nice if you are able to collect so many things over the years. Especialy if you bought so many things on travels with a lot of memories….. I also got some things that I would never give away but not as many as in her closet. You need to see it. I love every single blouse. Some more then others. I used to call one of them the Rachel Zoe blouse. Guess which one it is. ;)
