Most sexy bassist player Kim Gordon & Thurston Moore (both Sonic Youth) broke up and their marriage is over. While searching for a video I realized I loved almost every song of Sonic Youth. :( I still remember when I was 16 and on my first concert ever. In the first row and screaming like hell, leaving the first row after one song, because it was crazy for a little girl to stand there. All I wanted was to see them really close even if it was just for one song. Such a great band influencing me for over 20 years now. So sad that this era is over now.

There are a lot of genres out there at the moment. Toro Y Moi would be put in the category Chillwave. For those interested in the term and what’s behind, I suggest you take a look at the chillwave wikipedia entry. I prefer to look at music a bit more simplistic, either I feel it or don’t. I just love the soundscapes and visual approach. Big up! And by the way… If you’re in Hamburg and like what you just heard, be sure you don’t miss his set tonight at Grüner Jäger.

By now most of y’all have probably heard of Tyler the Creator, member of the Wolf-Gang. Nowadays most of the rap stuff is just lame and without a soul and voice, just a copy of some weird image. This stuff though brings back some punk rock and hardcore to the scene. Have a look for your self after the jump.

The idea of going to more concerts of bands that we don’t know totally works out. Yesterday “Jeff the Brotherhood” played at “Popmondial” and it was really nice to go there. In a great atmosphere the band from NASHVILLE, Tennessee played a great set. To me, it sounds a bit like “Pavement” who I totally like. So no wonder that this band surprised me. Go to their concerts if they are around. They are on tour in Europe, so catch them if you can. Dates and more pictures after the jump.

My suggestion is coming from “The Hundred in the Hands” and is called Snow Rules. I love the athmosphere in the video and of the sound of it.

Let’s start the day with a music video from France. So sad that we missed the “Yelle” concert last week. I love the look of the video and the sound of them is great! Allways is french artist with this fabulous styling and great looks. ;)

Sometimes it’s fun to go to concerts of bands that you don’t know like I did last week at the “Haus III & 70“. I was there for another reason but I heard the soundcheck and kind of liked the music. So I decided to stay until the concert started. The band was called “Mega! Mega!” and is coming from Berlin. They sing in german and are playing this typical energetic berlin punk sound. Note for my list for next year: more concerts from bands that I don’t know.

This weekend you need to listen to “The Hundred in the Hands” from Brooklyn. Gorgeous band.

I have no idea about what is going on in Hamburg. Events on every corner. Yesterday we first joined the Family and Friends Sale with drinks, music and fingerfood at “American Apparel“. And of course we where too late for the “Myspace Secret Show” of the “Ting Tings“. Five minutes before the show started we arrived…. The location was totally packed and we were just happy to get in. Why choose the easy way if you can have a exiting way to get in. ;) The show was quite nice and they played a lot of the new songs. I like that the new sound in general is full of 80′s sounds and a bit more grown up. More photos after the jump.

Nope, we are not turning our blog into a music related blog. ;) But Hamburg is known for a really good music scene and at the moment there are a lot of good concerts. Perhaps the team around “Pop Mondial” and “Death by Pop” got something to do with that. They influence the whole city with their good taste and golden finger for bookings. Last week “Theophilus London” this week “Kele Okereke” known from “Bloc Party” and on saturday emo rapper “Casper“. If you don’t wanna miss a good event, you should definitely bookmark their dates page.

If you are from Germany you might know this band. ;) I think I don’t need to introduce them. I’m really not a fan but still impressed about the path they walked. My first experience with them was round about 20 years ago on a small hiphop jam in Osnabrück. It was in the front of 50 people that hated them, because they weren’t “real hiphop”. (whatever that should be….) A few months later everything changed. The boys with the Triple 5 Soul jelly bag cap and the Cross Color Jackets became really famous. I’m pretty sure that nearly everyone can tell a story about the first experience with them. Whenever I hear the song about the seaside, I always have to think about my sister since we grew up close to the sea. She was sitting there and listing to a song of them, really loud. She listened to it over and over again which was totally annoying… Yesterday I liked it though because of my and the collective memory of the crowd. More photos after the jump.

“Theophilus London” had a concert in Hamburg yesterday. We felt like grandmother and granddaddy because at the beginning we had a really funny place to sit. A table with two chairs in the middle of the room. It was in a nice location we hadn’t been to before, the legendary music club Indra. The concert itself was better then we expected. We both like the sound and we felt like being at Brooklyn Bowl for one hour. Thank you for a nice evening.

I’m speechless. Lykke Li’s new video. Nice sound and a great video at the right time. It counldn’t be better. She is always having this sense for doing things right.

“I blame Coco” on the cover of the Asos Magazine. No wonder, she has a fxxxx great style! I love everything about her. She is Stings daughter, but I don’t know jet if that is a good or bad sign. ;) Perhaps good! Must be in her genes. A good sign is that “Robyn” did a song with her called “Caesar”. Last week we were at the Jedi Mind Tricks concert at Debaser Medis right around the corner of our “new” home on Södermalm. Luckily RA the Rugged Man was featured so it was well worth a visit. Since we were there mostly to see him perform, we didn’t get that many pics on the Jedi Minds, sorry! ;-) The place was really crowded and it was good to see some things are still alive, even this far up north. But please dear Swedes: Please learn how to handle the alcohol. Y’all drink one beer and get really nuts… Prost,
