Hixsept Spring/Summer 2012

It’s funny, but there are always a handfull of brands that have kept my attention over the years. Hixsept is one of them. They always come with a nice approach, combining their once again great collection with artistic elements creating a lookbook that is a piece of art itself. I really look forward seeing this stuff in selected stores and getting my hands on a few pieces. Unfortunately I didn’t make it to the tradeshows in Berlin last week.

Nonnative Spring/Summer 2012

Nonnative is a japanese brand that was not on my radar before. While I sometimes like creativity and playfulness in lookbooks, most of the time it is simplicity that suits my taste. Here in great perfection with focus on the product and the styling itself. The right combination of each thing is almost more important than anything else, at least besides having the balls to reduce.

Frontlineshop Lookbook SS 2012 Male

After the little sneak preview of the ladies frontline shop looks, we are happy to present the final male pictures.
It was nice to work with the really talented Emil and we had a lot of fun on the set.
We created 7 different looks, casual but still modern.

See also some behind the scenes pictures on the frontlineshop blog if you missed them.

We can’t wait for spring. It time for some light, color and nicer weather again.

Frontlineshop Lookbook SS 2012 Female

I had the honor to work up the frontline shop lookbook SS2012 and directed it with a team of 7 people. I am a bit mini proud to show the first exclusive previews. Some of you may know the model :) It’s gorgeous Leslie, we did a couple of shootings before. Can’t wait to show more and also present some male stuff. See some behind the scenes pictures on the frontlineshop blog.

HUF Holiday Lookbook

While I am not really that much into the HUF clothing itself, their corporate identity and whole visual approach is totally my style. Minimalistic & straight but still emotional. The latest lookbook, shot by Brian Kelley, definitely transports it. It focuses less on the product and more on the context, in a metaphoric manner.

GoodHood AW Preview

GoodHood Store from the UK did a really nice thing on their AW preview. Instead of taking photos of the upcoming stuff, they worked with an illustrator. A small but very nice little twist. I really like the way they play with the stereotype target groups in a really funny and beautiful way. Can you find yourself on the screens? I definitely did find myself on one or another! ;-)

Supreme NYC FW 11 Lookbook

Another nice season coming from Supreme NYC this fall. While I always seem to have a problem finding stuff when in store, the lookbook convinces me to keep looking. Besides the styling that really reminds me of some late 70′s early 80′s New York style, the collection itself is really nice too. I guess the caramel hooded jacket is my favorite this time.

Stüssy Mens Fall 2011

I really like the new Stüssy campaign shot by Peter Sutherland. The collection and documentary photography style by Peter match really well. The only thing that is a big dislike in my opinion is the shopping cart picture. A shopping cart in the “desert”!? Even if it was even close to the city, shopping carts are really a no go and belong to cheesy retailers trying to be something they are not. ;-)

Facetasm AW 2011

The styling & location in this Facetasm Lookbook for AW 2011 are just great. Even though I personally wouldn’t wear these combinations in everyday situations, the styling is an artwork itself. Layering in perfection.

Libertine-Libertine AW 2011

Libertine-Libertine from Copenhagen is a really young brand that has been putting out some nice collections during the last seasons, definitely with a unique attitude combining heritage elements with street attitude. Not too loud and not too boring either. I am not really sure what to think about those tilted photos, but the collection definitely makes up to what you might criticize regarding that choice of visual style. Definitely looking forward to seeing the stuff in stores. Check out their website for more info.

Whywho Shoes SS 2011

There are not so many things nicer than reviewing a new shoe collection on a sunday morning. I missed the last collection of “Whywho” from New Zealand. Shame on me. How could I forget a brand like this? I would wear every single pair of it. If you are tired of wearing Jeffrey Campbells’, this could be a nice and more feminim alternative.

WARRIORS OF RADNESS SS 2011

I just received a little package from New York last week and I was glad to see what was in it, a nice & loud muscle pant from Warriors of Radness. Representing your typical surf style, they got a wide range of casual beachwear really reminding me of the early 80′s brands like Stüssy etc. I think they have a great picture language. Regarding the collection especially those photo print t-shirts got my attention (what a surprise ;-)). Another diamond of course is the collabo with Opening Ceremony.
Looking forward to see some more stuff from Warriors of Radness, spreading some California Love and making me want to go back to LA real soon.

JEFFREY CAMPBELL FALL 2011 LOOKBOOK TEASER

Ok ok ok, it is so sure that we will all end up in wearing the 70′s stuff again. And you know what? I love it! The whole atmosphere of the “Jeffrey Campbell Lookbook Teaser” is totally transferring the mood as the “Wildfox Lookbook“. Such great outfits, nice colors and amazing shapes. If you ask me, I can’t wait, because it reminds me of the time when I was a kid. The 70′s are my favorite decade.

Our Legacy SS 2011

You might have already seen the campaign pictures of the summer collection of “Our Legacy“. Here comes a more subtile choice from the same shooting. I found the “smile style” really strange in the beginning, but after a while it really hit me. This is just a small detail but fills it with a lot of emotion & personality in combination with the heavy flash and analogue production. Be sure to check out the webshop for more. Good stuff there!

WILDFOX FALL 2011 – It’s Only Rock & Roll

Ever since I saw the new “Wildfox Lookbook” I’m so hyped. I’m not getting down anymore. Wow, the tone of the pictures, the tonality, the models, the location, the styling, the everything! Do I know anything more to write or point out!? How much can you hit the point more than this?

Thank you dear internet for bringing me a bit closer to what I like. Without you I maybe wouldn’t have seen these great pictures. Now the day can start as a better place!

Natasa Vojnovic & Irina Lazareanu for Superfine Fall 2011 Lookbook

I love Irina Lazareanu, she brings the best image for a brand or campaign she is working on. Anyway, here you can see the lookbook of the british denim label – Superfine. Designer, Lucy Pinter was inspired by old photos of Roma Gypsies and the godfather of punk Malcom McLaren for the autumn collection.

All in all, the pictures are just dark & twisted. If you read my posts, I am sure by now you know that I am really into a mix of punk, rock n roll and grunge style. Although, it is spring and we all want to wear some color, I still do think that gothic black is the best.

Always was, always will be.

H&M Video Lookbook AW 2011

I already wrote about the H&M Lookbook AW 2011. Normally, I like the pictures of the H&M lookbooks a bit more than the videos. In this case though, it’s exactly the opposite. I think the official H&M Lookbook films really present the idea of the fashion itself.

ASOS Fall 2011 Lookbook

OMFG! Sorry for using this expression but I’m overwhelmed by the Fall Lookbook of “Asos“. Girls, there you have the proof! It’s all about styling the stuff the right way. You don’t need to buy new stuff all the time, is more about combining your pieces the right way and to here and there add some it pieces. We don’t see that that many new shapes or patterns. What we see is the best styling coming from a retailer in a long long time. So let’s get ready for fall, but …. after a great summer please.
So there is some time for bootcamp. See all Lookbook pictures here.

Chris Habana Jewelery

I’m not so into jewelery, but I really like it for other people if they combine it in an nice and inspiring way. If I wore jewelery I would buy “Chris Habana“. The 34 year old designer from the Philippines living in the states, recently did a collabo with A-Ok. I love the structure of the items, especialy the triangle plate cuff. The rough and at the same time still elegant style is just amazing.

H&M Trend Lookbook Autum 2011

As the most of you know, I’m normally a huge fan of the “H&M Lookbooks“. This time I’m not really sure. I’m not that wow’d. Of course the single items are nice, but the pictures? In my opinion they are a bit to polished and I’m not a huge of the styling. It’s to much of everything. Yes, a lookbook should inspiring and doesn’t need to look like a regualar daily outfit but that is going into the wrong direction. In opposite I really like the heavy fabrics of the items and different kind of textures. I think they could have presented them in a nicer way. The men’s though stuff I totally like and I think they look gorgeous. So thumbs up for men and a half dump for the ladies, because I know they can do it better.

Ida Sjöstedt Lookbook SS 2011

To be honest, my love for swedish fashion was almost over. After our trip to L.A. I felt like I had to put every one of those garments away. In my eyes everything swedish was just hanging in a way. Yeah of course in a nice way, but I was tired of it. At the same time I wasn’t that informed anymore. It became really quiet in the swedish blogger scene and seemed like that lot of blogger stopped blogging. So I checked the websites of some swedish designers. Of course I was on the website of “Ida Sjöstedt“. After she had been to the Berlin Fashion Week, she had a little hype about her work. I was amazed about the her spring lookbook. Gorgeous dresses with great shapes and amazing fabrics. On the runway pictures I wasn’t that blown away but here in the lookbook pictures you see every detail and the golden coloring of the pictures is doing the rest. I love the spirit of it. All the pictures of the Ida Sjöstedt lookbook.

Dana Lee New York Lookbook

To be honest, I didn’t know Dana Lee before I read about her current collection on Slam-X-Hype. I really like the simplistic style in combination with the heritage touch and the look of the pictures. I’m not really sure about if it’s the 90′s, 80′s or 70′s that I feel here. A kind of soulglow. Any idea on where to get her stuff in Europe?

Good Hood Men’s Lookbook

Thu Thu

Sometimes fashion in Germany surprises me. Like “Thu Thu” by designer Thuy Duong Nguyen from Bischofswerda. Bischofswerda is pretty close to Dresden, in the eastern part of Germany. I’m really wondering were the in Vietnam raised young designer is getting her inspiration from. Since SS 2009 she has been designing great stuff but this one is extraordinary. Wild pattern mixes, different fabrics and a cosmopolitan style. Love it.

Cooperative Designs

I already wrote about “Cooperativedesigns” a while ago. But let’s take a closer look on the collections that Annalisa Dunn and Dorothee Hagemann did. Both graduated Central St Martins. They have been running their brand since 2007 and do some gorgeous crazy knit stuff. For AW 2011 the focus will be on black & white zebra patterns. Of course they integrated their graphic style in an oversized modern shape. I can’t wait so see more of “Cooperativedesigns“. You just got to love their modern interpretation of knitwear.
