Some more impressions of a city that is changing its face pretty fast. On every corner you can feel that the people started to take care and getting aware of the need to change. You see eco friendly supermarkets more then regular ones, hybrid cars, really light plastic bottles, carsharing, urban organic gardening, rooftop bees and not that many fast food places. The funniest stuff that we found was a refill counter for beerbottles ;)
Of course NYC is not the states, but they are the trend motor for a lot of influential movements and great ideas. Like the peoeple were we stayed. They had this nice yoga place but on the other hand they are open for new things. In example, they tried the new creditcard system on the iPad and handle all their customer stuff with the device. Check out the Mashable article for more.
Europeans tend to think: “Oh the States are the huge bad guy not willing to change.” But whenever we are there I totally think the opposite. Sometimes it feels like especially Germans tend to hate every innovation. ;) We saw so many innovations in NYC and it would be nice to feel the same impulse and spirit here.
