At the Collet Showroom I met the really sympathetic Ben of „Ben and Julia“ from Berlin. We started to chat for a while because I was wondering how they produce the wonderful leather jacket. Normally i’m not so into leather since I’ve been vegetarian for over 20 years now. The jacket looked so individual that I had to ask because it looked like someone produced it with love for the detail.

He told me that a family from Bali is producing their whole collection and that they give them a sample for how they want the piece to be. The base shape is always the same, but the small details are chosen by the person who produces the jacket since it so much depends on the material.

The whole collection is inspired by Bali. No wonder that they produced such a nice collection with a lot of batik and colorful details.

I was wondering a bit about the price range. The items are settled in a price range kind of affordable for a designer piece with such a background. If we talk about sustainability we should all wear more items with such a background. We should all buy less but with better quality. It should be the items that we really love and that we are able to wear for a long time.

More after the jump.
