Mind is a razor blade

Today, I was thinking about the life experience itself and every crazy, irrational, inconvenient and consuming story I was involved through the past few years.

There were those which opened to something new and changed the core of me, those which gave some complications and lots of unanswered questions, those which surprised and brought me far away from home and those which I knew could last only for a moment without a particular meaning.

But, every story has a beginning, a middle and an end. I am somewhere around the corner of the end, without a particular reason.

Models at Viva London

It’s all about personality. A pretty face is not everything. You need to stick out if you want to work as a model. The models from “Viva London” are a good example for how to impress without make up. It’s hard to say who is my favorite, but in this moment right now I would say Jessica Clarke or Linn A. or Carla or Luisa B. or I don’t know.
So many pretty faces and great talents. Have a look at the pictures by Scott Trindle here.

Videoweek: Blogger Meeting

Today we want to post the video that was shot during the blogger meeting in Hamburg. It was on our first week back and nice to get together and know eachother a bit better. Most of them we just know from online. I love the light and perspectives in this video. I still can feel the warm wind and still remember the great atmosphere. We need to do it again this summer!

White out

I am trying to hunt down a white suit. I prefer a bit oversized masculine, slightly androgyny jacket and high waist shorts, which I would wear together with a grey-oversized Alexander’s Wang t-shirt. Anyways, white color in the minimalistic pattern design is a big thing this spring/summer.

Designers such as Alexander Wang, Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, Calvin Klein, Ceiline are offering white minimalistic tailor-cut blazers, pants and vests. It’s definitely more interesting than color block trend.

I remember like zillion years ago, white pants/jeans was a big hit and of course like every girl in my town, I had a pair in my closet. Thought, I never made it work. Also, I am really messy type of a girl and white is not my color. After this long term disappointment, I perceived white clothing combination as something too polished, too complicated and I never in my entire life dreamed that the day will come then I would crave to roll myself into white patterns.

Oh, I imagine swedish girl in contrast of really tanned skin and white suit.
That’s the dream.

Videoweek: Waschtag

We just realized that we have so many nice little videos we did last year that must not be forgotten. The result: a week dedicated to our videos. Here we go with the first one. Like the title says, it’s all about me and Nikita doing the laundry in our first flat in Stockholm on Kungsholmen. Enjoy!

Nina Braun – Lovers Rock

As announced, we were at the vernissage of Nina Braun’s exhibition “Lovers Rock” at the Helium Cowboy Artspace for some cold beer and to say hello to Nina. Nina has been doing Knit Art for some years now and is pretty successful in that area. She’s had a few exhibitions internationally so you might have seen some of her older pieces already. Like the knitted sneakers and other sculptures.

This time she concentrated on one big peace, the “Lovers Rock”. A huge rock with several knitted personas telling different storys. The clou is in the details. She worked 6 months on this great peace of art.

We did a little interview with her as well. So stay to tuned and see her describe her works in her own words.

Neon love

I already shared my love for the neon trend like TV showed it in their Lookbook for AW 2010. When I saw this shirt, it was absolutly clear to me that I had to buy it. ;) I also bought the suit that I saw on the Monki website before. I love the front and it’s asymmetric cut and the color of it.

Nina Braun: Lovers Rock (Vernissage)

Nina Braun is back: after her her move to Berlin and a baby-break, our long-time resident returns to heliumcowboy for a solo show this year. Representing Nina Braun since 2005 in three solo exhibitions in Hamburg as well as in shows in Barcelona, New York & Miami, we are happy to present her latest works, opening May 28.

Moving her focus even more towards sculpting over the past years, Nina has been working on large scale textile installations for the exhibition. The centerpiece is the big „Lovers Rock“, resembling a baboon cliff filled with humans. Aside from these larger pieces, Nina Braun will show three-dimensional wall-works as well as new watercolors.

In her usual meticulous way, Nina creates exceptionally elaborate works, that allow for easy access through their haptics and feel of surface alone. Not just the appealing materials, but also Nina‘s iconographic visual language, her humor and the assumedly cute characters populating the sculptures, are straightforward invitations for a discovery tour beneath those friendly surfaces. Here, in the depths of her work, one can explore Nina‘s main concerns, that can be found throughout her artistic output: social research and critique, psychodrama and tragedy, as well as the pleasures of …

H&M Video Lookbook AW 2011

I already wrote about the H&M Lookbook AW 2011. Normally, I like the pictures of the H&M lookbooks a bit more than the videos. In this case though, it’s exactly the opposite. I think the official H&M Lookbook films really present the idea of the fashion itself.…

En knut på morgonen

This morning this little video popped up on my Facebook wall. Someone else posted it, so I don’t really know who that person is showing us how to do a nice knot. I showed it to Ruta and all she answered was: “I hate swedish girls! It’s like they are born to do miracles with their hair and the make-up.” ;)

Yes indeed! It looks perfect to me aswell ….
10 point for the perfect knot and another 10 points for this little video. We like!

People are transparent, aren’t they?

I feel like life is all about how well you can read others. For example, Sevda is a Queen of Kingdom which is called White Chicken Slaughterhouse (obviously, inside joke). Like Barney Stinson, I have my own rules and definitions for life, for example term “White Chicken” came out this morning as a synonym for internship trainees who don’t have a decent clue how to adapt in the company and are just buzzing around with their tiny, confused faces.

Well, of course, I know it best, cause like in real life or right now I am so called “White Chicken” – confused and sticking from the german crowd. But, the point is that, I envy those, who can read others like an open book.

Indeed, that is a very important quality to have at the work place, cause you will always know who to trust, who obviously not.

There are things I am good at, I see the good concept from the small details, I notice a special person at the first glance, I do brilliant keynote presentations, I dance like there is no tomorrow, I am faithful to my passion. But, I do overanalyze people and get all confused, …

ASOS Fall 2011 Lookbook

OMFG! Sorry for using this expression but I’m overwhelmed by the Fall Lookbook of “Asos“. Girls, there you have the proof! It’s all about styling the stuff the right way. You don’t need to buy new stuff all the time, is more about combining your pieces the right way and to here and there add some it pieces. We don’t see that that many new shapes or patterns. What we see is the best styling coming from a retailer in a long long time. So let’s get ready for fall, but …. after a great summer please.
So there is some time for bootcamp. See all Lookbook pictures here.

Leopard print – stripers heaven

I love this Acne leopard print dress. I have bought it few years ago and whenever I am going out and don’t know what to wear, it’s my savior.

What is not to like, very clean and minimalistic cut with the cut out back (the back is definitely the reason why I bough this dress in the first place). The only issue I could face in the future is leopard print, which is in fashion for the past few years. Although, then it comes to leopard print, I have mix feelings, it looks good only in curtain styles and for curtain people.

Otherwise it is just striper’s, known as Candy, basic good in the wardrobe, you know what I mean!

Wishlist Pixiemarket

Summer is back in town and I love the colors in the stores right now. Especially the ones at “Pixiemarket“. They are so fresh that they wash the winter away. I love the pale colors in combination with white. Usually when I write about Pixiemarket, I also talk about great styling. Of course the styling is great as always. Have you seen this stunning blond mode!? Wow, she blows my mind! On the picture with the collar she is just so breathtaking.

TEDx Hamburg

Yesterday I attended my first TED conference, the TEDxHamburg. For those of you that don’t know about TED: It’s a plattform where “specialists” from all kind of different fields of expertise talk about their point of view, vision or experience. In the end it’s all about “Ideas worth spreading”. Usually based in the States, the TEDx is what you would call a satellite event allover the world. Yesterdays conference lasted from 9am to 6pm. I took some snapshots from the speakers and themes that I found most interesting. From Linda Pohlmann’s experience as a freelance journalist and the problem of aid organizations, Bright B Simons word about the problems with fake medicine, David F Flanders about 3D printing, Joost Holthuis about designing the importance of customer insights, Jörg Reckhenrich about creativity in business to Elisabet Sahtouris presenting views on the evolution and the possibility that crisis brings. Theses were just a few of yesterdays speakers, see the whole list and additional information here. I could write so much more, but you better find out yourself digging in the vaults of the TED archive. I’m sure you’ll find some inspiration for making this world a better place. Some …

It’s all about the attitude

t’s all about the attitudeI am looking all sexy today, at least I think so (Sevda didn’t agree on that one). Every time I am putting on something hot, I am considering, if I don’t look too ridiculous. I don’t like sexy, but I mean define what is sexy?!

At least, I don’t like this kind of obvious sexy, imagine blonde with a big rack striking the pose on the street together with Louis Vuitton bag and a small dog as accessory. I hate small dogs, but that’s not the point. I guess, I am just afraid that my russian side of fashion will go wild and beyond, if I wont strike back with my grungy style.

My rules are simple, If you are wearing a romantic dress, put some edgy rock n roll boots. Fashion should have a contrast. Normally, I am all about the rock n roll and oversized, minimalistic dresses, but Germany is getting all over me.

Oh, well, I might just as well enjoy my feminine side, cause then I am back in Denmark, I am going all rock n roll again! Black and twisty. But, a wise guy told me, that you have to be …

Jewelry designer Viktorija-Agne Mackeviciute

my friend is a jewelry designer called Viktorija-Agne Mackeviciute, ha! I am looking forward to see men’s jewelry collection my bff was recently shooting. It’s very interesting to see what she has been doing all this time while I am in Germany, plus someone told me that she had super hot male models involved in the shooting. I really hope it’s true.

But, she is very talented, a serious workaholic, who never gives up and always moves forward.

Most of the time, it is just annoying to see how much strength and motivation this very delicate and insanely beautiful girl has. She feels like home to me.

Always searching

I don’t own many bags, I have 2 bags from Mulberry and an extra clutch from American Apparel. That’s very little for a girl, who is in love with fashion.

I love buying shoes, or jackets, that is my obsession, but then it comes to bags, I would rather invest my money in IT bag. I love my Mulberry Piccadilly bag, which I always wear to school, and Alexa for the weekend, but at the moment, I am having handbag crisis! I am really tired of Mulberry and need something else.
Any ideas?

Chris Habana Jewelery

I’m not so into jewelery, but I really like it for other people if they combine it in an nice and inspiring way. If I wore jewelery I would buy “Chris Habana“. The 34 year old designer from the Philippines living in the states, recently did a collabo with A-Ok. I love the structure of the items, especialy the triangle plate cuff. The rough and at the same time still elegant style is just amazing.

Just dark and twisted

I have been wearing this particular outfit almost every day for the past year. Black skinny jeans, oversized t-shirt, leather jacket and pistol boots, it doesn’t get better than that!

Of course, I am aware that black is an easy color and at the same time very boring, but this is the exact outfit which makes me feel like myself again in Germany. Just dark and twisted.
